# Motorola Signature 27 comes to the US at $1,599, the first non-Pixel phone with official GrapheneOS support. What you get

> Motorola's new flagship has a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a 200MP periscope camera, a 7,000mAh battery and seven years of updates. Pre-orders open in the US on November 19. Its most unusual feature is official support for the privacy-focused GrapheneOS, which until now ran only on Google Pixels. Motorola hasn't said when that support arrives.

**Motorola** announced on November 5 that its **Signature 27** flagship is coming to the US for **$1,599.99**. That buys one configuration, with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. According to Motorola's press release, pre-orders open **November 19** at Motorola.com, Amazon and Best Buy, and the phone goes on sale **November 26**, universally unlocked.

9to5Google calls the specs "more or less unmatched in the US." But one feature sets the phone apart: Motorola calls it its first GrapheneOS-supported device. Until now, GrapheneOS, a hardened, privacy-focused version of Android, officially ran only on Google's Pixel phones.

Read the fine print on some of these figures. Motorola's footnotes say the 12,000-nit peak applies only "in specific scenarios," on a 1% average pixel level. The Tech Outlook lists high-brightness mode at 3,000 nits. Motorola also says the 50MP ultrawide combines pixels four to one, so photos come out at 12.5MP. The seven years of security updates count from the global launch date and may vary by market or carrier.

## The GrapheneOS question

The GrapheneOS project confirmed on X in September that it plans initial support for the Signature 27, Android Central reported. That makes it the first non-Pixel phone the project officially supports. Motorola's launch release repeats the claim but gives **no date** for when GrapheneOS will be available or how installation will work. Motorola says details on its ARM Memory Tagging Extension security feature will come "in the coming months." Memory tagging matters to GrapheneOS because it helps block whole classes of memory bugs that attackers exploit.

If GrapheneOS is your reason to buy, wait for the project to publish install instructions and a supported build. A planned port is not the same as a working one.

The phone also ships with plenty of AI on stock Android. 9to5Google reports it is the first phone outside Pixel to get Google's full "Gemini Intelligence" features. It also runs Motorola's own Qira assistant, which requires a Motorola or Lenovo account and an internet connection, according to Motorola.

## The catches

- **No magnetic Qi2.** The phone has no built-in magnets, according to Android Headlines and 9to5Google. 9to5Google says wireless charging drops to 15W on non-Motorola chargers.
- **The fast charger costs extra.** Motorola's footnote says you need a 90W-or-higher charger, sold separately, to get the claimed "day's power in 12 minutes."
- **No carrier deals yet.** It's sold unlocked, and Android Headlines says major carriers hadn't confirmed in-store sales. It isn't coming to Canada for now.
- **No headphone jack**, per The Tech Outlook.

## Pricing elsewhere and launch offers

In the UK, the Signature 27 costs **£1,300**, and it rolls out across Europe, the Middle East and Africa from November 16, according to The Tech Outlook. 9to5Google reports that US pre-orders on Motorola.com include a free Moto Watch Ultra and a year of Motocare extended warranty for a limited time.

Not every outlet agrees on the US dates. 9to5Google reported that pre-orders opened on announcement day with a November 19 launch. The dates above come from Motorola's own release, so check Motorola.com before you plan around them.

**Who should care:** people who want a 7,000mAh battery and what Motorola bills as the brightest smartphone display, and privacy-minded buyers who want GrapheneOS without buying a Pixel. Because GrapheneOS has no support date yet, the second group has good reason to wait.
