Repo roundup: a receipt printer that thanks every stargazer, a PR autopilot, and an ad-killer for Android

Three small projects from this week's GitHub trending list that are clever, useful, or both — with what they do, how they work, and the catches.

1. print-my-profile-pic — star it, and your face prints on a receipt

aschmelyun/print-my-profile-pic · PHP · Raspberry Pi

The premise is delightfully silly: star the repository, and your GitHub avatar prints out on a thermal receipt printer in the author's home. The engineering is a tidy example of wiring a webhook to hardware:

  • A GitHub webhook fires on each new star and posts the event to a Cloudflare Tunnel domain.
  • The tunnel leads to a PHP script on a Raspberry Pi, which grabs the starrer's name and avatar, drops the picture behind a photo-frame cutout, and adds a few extra details.
  • escpos-php formats the receipt for an Epson TM-T88IV connected over USB.

Why it's worth a look: it's a ten-minute read that teaches webhooks, tunnels and ESC/POS printing — a great template for "physical notification" projects (order alerts, CI failures, doorbell logs).

2. tstack — Theo's daily-driver agent skills

t3dotgg/tstack · MIT · works with Claude Code and Codex

A set of agent skills built around one idea: let the agent carry a pull request all the way through. Highlights:

Skill Say this What it does
full-send "full send" Verifies, reviews, files, monitors and merges a change — unattended
full-stop "full stop" Same, but stops when the PR is ready for you to merge
council "council" Gets review from three models from different providers and loops until they agree
babysit-pr "babysit" Watches CI and review bots and fixes the valid findings
takeover "take over" Finishes someone else's PR or branch while keeping their credit
modernize "modernize" Rebases an old PR and decides whether it should still exist

Install by copying skills/* into ~/.claude/skills/ or ~/.codex/skills/. You need an authenticated gh CLI; council and the review loop need access to other providers' models.

The catch: full-send merges without a human looking. Start with full-stop.

3. android-ad-cleaner — strip the ads out of Chinese Android skins, no root required

rddmwmddr/android-ad-cleaner · Python · MIT

Phones running Honor MagicOS, OPPO ColorOS, Xiaomi HyperOS and vivo OriginOS are notorious for ads in system apps, "hot search" feeds and marketing pushes. This tool turns them off over adb (USB or wireless debugging):

  • Disables ad personalization, ad tracking (OAID) and "smart recommendation" services.
  • Hides app-store banners, splash ads and floating promotions; turns off marketing notification channels while keeping delivery, order and update alerts.
  • Suspends known ad components and disables "quick apps."
  • Takes a snapshot first, and suspended packages and channels can be restored with a command.

It deliberately avoids risky moves: no root, no bootloader unlock, no system-app uninstalls, and it backs out of any user-agreement screen. You can run it yourself, follow a manual checklist, use the desktop app, or let an AI agent drive it.

The catch: device "recipes" vary by model and OS version, and only the Honor PNM-AN10 recipe is marked fully tested — others are partial or in progress. Back up first, and expect a system update to break a step or two. The README is in Chinese; the marketing-notification and ad-tracking steps should work on most Android phones.
